The Weekend Begins...

Hi Hostelers,

The weekend started off on Friday night with D.J. Honeycutts spinning in the lobby. After her great two sets, a group of 60 plus hostelers, headed down to Webster Hall. I hope everyone enjoyed this East Village hotspot.

Now, Saturday is all about Pacha @10pm  and Comedy at the Underground Lounge @9:45. Before going out, come to the cafe and listen some great music in Subway Cafe.

Here is a little info on the performer tonight, Trevor Dexter
started singing in Brazil and then with De La Guarda here in NYC, now I just sit with the cello and sing. I play it weird though - like a tiny bass or aquatic guitar, and I also hit it sometimes.

You can find me often at Banjo Jim's, Rockwood, Joe's Pub, Living Room, Sidewalk and those kinds of places, mostly songwriter hangouts. I work frequently as a sideman, but I ain't Yo-Yo Ma!

Come see a show sometime - these days I mostly do solo sets. I'm working on a NEW band project: you can find the first song by Pickup in my top friends, and there is also some older instrumental stuff located on the
XOTR page. Enjoy!

David Ippolito has been a New York "thing" in Central Park for over 17 years. The New York Times has called him "...the most famous person in New York that nobody knows."

We have him here at the hostel for you tonight!!!

That Guitar Man is cranking out songs from each of his 7 CDs as well as tracks from James Taylor, U2, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, REM, Neil Young,  Elton John, Matchbox 20 ...and many others.

The Apollo's Back!!!!

Yes, it's true. Amateur Night at the Apollo is back. After reconstruction at the Apollo, you can catch this great show live. Meet in the lobby as a group leaves at 6pm.

Also tonight, there is the FREE STATEN ISLAND FERRY/TIMES SQUARE TOUR. Join Don, our volunteer tour guide, as he guides through two must-see sights in NYC. The group leaves at 5:30pm.

Tuesday, Game Night, A Pub Crawl, and Much More..

We start off the day with Jerry's City Tour @11 am and the Greenwich Village @10 am. Most of you, hostelers, are out and about exploring NYC today.

If you come back early, join us in the World Room from 6pm to 9pm. We will be breaking out Jenga and Scrabble then. Don't forget we have a Nintendo Wii to play some tennis and maybe the Wii Fit board will come out too.

At 9pm, then you can start off the party by joining our Pub Crawl which takes you on a tour of the local bars.

Hi all you Hostellers,

Are you ready for a big weekend? We are going to give you the breakdown on the TOP THREE things to do this weekend at H.I.

1. Jerry's Grand Tour - If you have just arrived, our number one tour at the hostel is with Jerry, our local legend. He will take you around the city from 10 am on Saturday
Details: Saturday @10am - $10 per person - tour length - all day

2. Clubbing with FREE ENTRY - We have the hook-up at the best clubs. On Friday, there is Webster Hall for 19 and older. You can go enjoy America's Longest Running Club. On Saturday, Pacha NY is the place to be seen. The original club opened in Ibiza, Spain but New York version is well worth a look.

3. Harlem Gospel Tour - Join the tour which leaves the lobby at 8:30 am every Sunday. It is a great way to see the heart and soul of Manhattan. The tour starts off with walk through Columbia's campus and ends at the
LaGree Baptist Church, 360 West 125th St., the cross street is Manhattan Ave.

If you want to meet some new people, post a comment and arrange a meeting to go around the city. This is a message board for all guests and staff to connect.
